Waiting On Wednesday (3)

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill from Breaking The Spine.

(Amazon , Goodreads)

After reading the first book, I cannot wait for this!

"After losing her sister and finding out who- or what- she really is, Vanessa returns home for her senior year. Everyone at Hawthorne Prep has questions about her tragic summer, but knowing who to open up to is impossible. As she walks the halls without Justine for the very first time, Vanessa has more to worry about than just making a new life for herself.

Because the sirens are out for revenge. To protect herself and the ones she loves, Vanessa must call on powers she believes she has but does not know how to use. To learn, she'll have to seek help from the only person who truly knows her. But first, she must admit the truth about her real identity."

And is this not an amazing trailer for her book Half-Blood?

Review: Beastly

Beastly- Alex Finn

 5/5 Stars

Reading level: Young Adult
Paperback: 336 pages
Publisher: HarperTeen; Revised edition (February 8, 2011)

 I am a beast.
A beast!
Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright. I am a monster.
You think I'm talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It's no deformity, no disease. And I'll, stay this way forever ruined unless I can break the spell.
Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I'll tell you. I'll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I'll tell you how I became perfectly...beastly.

I read this book in a day, and had to do my homework at 5 that morning. But, let me tell you, it was worth it! At first I was kind of iffy about reading a book from a stuck-up guys point of view, but once I opened it, Kyle wasn't that brand of stuck-up I though he would be. I guess a...... likable stuck up, if you knew him really well.
It really grabs you, I think. I couldn't put it down, no matter how much I attempted to talk myself into it. Kyle really believes that ugly people are a nuisance- and his dad is much worse.
His dad is vile. He never pays attention to Kyle, and likes to think that ugly people should just go die, even if they can't help it. I was honestly not surprised when he gave up on Kyle. A jerk like that isn't capable of love- except for himself.  Also, I love the tie ins of the fairytales! Absolutely brilliant and creative. The chats Kyle does with the other 'monsters' are great. I love Kyle's rose garden, I love Will, heck, I even love Pilot (Will's seeing-eye dog).
And I almost forgot, Kendra, the witch. Her character is wonderful-  the foreshadowing from her in the beginning is part of what makes this book so alluring. After her character really starts to develop you start to admire her, even after what she did to Kyle.
So, that's pretty much it. I'm kind of late on this, so you might have already read it, but if you haven't, go do it now! It's an awesome book to curl up with. I can't wait to read some more from Alex Finn!

10 Things About A She Named Riley

So I figured you may wanna know a little about me.

 1. I am absolutely petrified of spiders. I DO NOT CARE if it is harmless and tiny, I WANT IT DEAD.

 2. I'm loud, bossy, and make a fool of myself around males. So if you are a male, er, hi, I guess. Crap, see what you did, going and proving my point!

 3. I have a facebook that none of you will ever see, except for the people I acctually know. I will give a hint to my last name, though: It is the same as a well-known male author.

 4. Favorites: Chocolate Bar: Butterfinger. Drink: Lemonade. Candy: Skittles. Song: Ummm.... Sound: Laughter. Season: Summer, or Autumn, usually whichever one is occuring. Person: Brielle, and no, this is not flattery. My family is what you would call 'dysfunctional.'

 5. Twitter confuses me, as well as goodreads. Oh, and math. And boys. Can't forget smart people. How does ones brain hold that much stuff?

 6. I have braces. Not the pretty kind with colors- plain metal ones. My stpid ortho didn't even ask. Old guy, get your hands outta my mouth!

 7. I sleep with my overhead fan on, no matter what season it may be. I like the cool. Not the cold, but cool.

 8. I'm pretty sure I have multiple personalities. Some days I want my hair natral and curly, others I iron the heck out of it. Some days I want to wear my ball shorts, other days, I want jeans and a band tee shirt. Is this normal? Maybe. Am I? HA!

 9. I love YouTube. I stalk there for funny people to laugh at and listen to music 24/7.

 10. I love you, mysterious computer person who I just creeped out insanely:)

Waiting on Wednesday, Wait a little longer.

So. If you are reading this, it means you are one of the 5 people, since I don't count because I accidentally followed myself and cannot figure out if you can un-follow, following my blog. Or, you could have just stumbled upon this post and felt the need to read it. Well, whichever you are, Hello, hello!
 And now for my apology.
So, as one or two of you may have figured out, and Brielle who I told, I did not post a WOW yesterday. I am deeply ashamed and want to crawl in my closet, eat a flip flop from two years, seven months, nine days, six hours and fifteen minutes ago, and die.
And for the wanderers with you wondering minds who do not know what a WOW is: it is a post that you put up every Wednesday about a book that you would like to read. At least...... I'm pretty sure. For my mind is still undeveloped in the ways of Blogging.
I don't want to post one today because I do not want to lie. Normally, I have no problem with it  because I am quite the compulsive liar.
 Aunt: Are you eating?
Me: *throws plate of pizza rolls in the closet* Not at all. Whatever gave you that wretched idea? Tell me, why would I be eating pizza rolls? Are you implying that I eat too much? ARE YOU CALLING ME FAT? Well, I have to take a shower. *walks in bathroom, shuts door. Starts shower. Sits in floor and reads book*
                                            TWENTY MINUTES LATER
 Aunt: What took so long?
Me: I had to wash my hair.
Aunt: Riley, your hair is dry.
 Me: My hair dries quickly.
Aunt: You just came out of the bathroom!
Me: I was just cleaning up. School makes me smell like teacher. And teacher smells baddddd.
Aunt: YOU ARE IN THE SAME CLOTHES!!
Me: Oh, so you remember what I wear each day, do you? Well, I have to do homework.
Aunt: You didn't bring home any books.
 Me: Yes I did.
Aunt: No, and you already said you didn't have homework.
 Me: I told the truth.
 Aunt: Are you lying?
Me: Yes. Or maybe not. Am I lying? Can you tell me?
 Aunt: You are Devil Spawn.
 :)
So, Yes. But, I don't wish to lie to you wonderful people, and haven't yet. So, now that I have filled your head with this pointless rant, I shall GO!
Dong, it didn't have the same affect as it did in my mind. D:
Skittles and Lemonade,
       Riley:D
Hehe, I just noticed that I said 'Dong'. I think I shall leave it as such because I appreciate typos and how they are funny and inconvenient.
