Review: The Body Finder

The Body Finder-Kimberly Derting

2/5 Stars

Sixteen year-old Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her unusual so-called gift. While her confused feelings for her best friend are new, she has been able to sense dead bodies-or at least those that have been murdered- and the imprints that attach to their killers since she was a little girl. Violet has never considered her ability useful, but now that a serial killer has began terrorizing her town she realizes she might be the only on who can stop him.

I didn't really like this book. First of all, it's in third person limited. Some books can pull it off, but.... well, I just didn't like it. It got Ice Blue for this reason: Her world revolves around Jay. Don't get me wrong; I love a good romance. But this book had great potential, (I love horror/thriller mixed with paranormal) and it seems like the author put all her work into the romance and none into the mystery. The ending was all too predictable.
It also got a Blue because, well, I think Violet is kind of idiotic in some parts. There were some places where what she needed to do was painfully obvious and she didn't even consider it. Pitiful.

Also, it wasn't clarified for a while exactly why Violet can sense the dead and their killers. You find out later that she inherited it from her Grandmother. I think that should have been worked in the first page.
I know, short review! And I don't mean to offend anyone who likes this book, it's just my opinion. This would be a good book to get from the library, but I feel like I just wasted my money buying it.

I totally loved this book. I don't know, it was just really good to me. I loved the entire premise of it and the characters. There was so much suspense and somewhat surprising moments. I also really loved Violet and Jay's romance too. This is the most recent review on my site, if you want to check it out :) Xx
